About Albi

Motorcycle Track Day at the Albi Circuit

The Albi circuit, located in Le Séquestre in the Tarn department, has been a major venue for French motorcycle sport since its inauguration on September 7, 1962. Built around the Séquestre aerodrome to replace the dangerous Planques circuit, it has since hosted the prestigious Albi Grand Prix. The circuit has become a major event in the French Superbike Championship (FSBK), hosting the finals with up to 7 competition categories. Its flat and fast 3.55 km track, a legacy of its aeronautical design, offers a unique motorcycle track day experience in the Southwest.

History of the Albi Circuit

Work began in 1961 on the site of the Séquestre aerodrome, near Albi. The circuit was inaugurated on September 7, 1962, in front of 30,000 spectators for the 20th Albi Grand Prix. The track has evolved over the years: initially 3.636 km long, it was reduced to 3.546 km in 1981 and then 3.536 km in 1988 with the addition of chicanes and the modification of corners, before reaching its current length of 3.551 km.

Today, the circuit hosts the French FSBK Championship — the highest level of national motorcycle competition — as well as the French Championship for classic and historic motorcycles, the Albi Eco Race, and the Retro Weekend. It is a popular training ground for competition riders and track day enthusiasts alike. Ride at Albi circuit!

Track and Characteristics of the Albi Circuit

The Albi circuit is a flat and fast 3.55 km track, a direct legacy of its construction around the aerodrome. The track runs clockwise on a 10-meter-wide asphalt surface. The long straights, characteristic of the aeronautical design, are interspersed with chicanes that break the rhythm and require precision.

Riding Tips: The straights invite speed, but it is in the chicanes that the difference is made. Brake in a straight line and be precise on your apexes — a bad placement at the entrance of a chicane compromises the entire exit. The flatness of the circuit allows you to fully concentrate on the trajectories without worrying about the mass transfer linked to the elevation changes. Work on your consistency before seeking performance.

Access and Practical Information

The Albi circuit is located at the Séquestre aerodrome, 81990 Le Séquestre (Tarn), a few minutes from the city center of Albi.

The noise limit is 92 dB — one of the strictest in France. An original exhaust or an approved exhaust with a dB killer is practically essential.

Why Ride at the Albi Circuit?

The Albi circuit combines prestige and accessibility. Its flat and fast track is ideal for working on pure speed and precision in the chicanes. The legacy of the Albi Grand Prix and the FSBK gives a unique atmosphere to each track day. It is the reference circuit for motorcyclists from the Tarn and Midi-Pyrénées regions, with a friendly atmosphere and infrastructure adapted to motorcycle track days.
