About Anneau du Rhin
Motorcycle Track Day at Anneau du Rhin
The Anneau du Rhin, located in Biltzheim, Alsace, is the largest circuit in the Grand Est region of France. Founded in 1996 by Marc Rinaldi and now managed by his son François, this private circuit nestled in a former hunting estate in the Alsatian forest welcomes approximately 50,000 visitors each year. FFM approved since 2011, the Anneau du Rhin has become a reference for motorcycle track days in the northeastern quarter of France, attracting Alsatian riders as well as motorcyclists from Germany and Switzerland.
History of the Anneau du Rhin
The circuit was created in 1996 by Marc Rinaldi on a wooded area in Biltzheim, between Colmar and Mulhouse. In 2006, the 3 km configuration was modernized. In 2011, a complete resurfacing and widening of the track allowed FFM approval for motorcycle training and competition. The paddock was expanded in 2023 to accommodate up to 12,000 spectators during major events.
The Anneau du Rhin has hosted prestigious competitions: the Championnat de France Superbike, rounds of the Trophée d'Alsace, motorcycle endurance races, as well as automotive events such as the Tour Auto and a round of the FIA World Touring Car Cup in 2022.
Track Characteristics (3 km competition)
The 3 km competition configuration is the most used track for motorcycle track days at the Anneau du Rhin. The circuit runs clockwise and offers a balanced mix of fast and technical sections. The asphalt track offers good grip and a width of 12 meters.
The track starts with the 1,000-meter straight, where speeds exceed 200 km/h on motorcycles. This is followed by the Adrénaline curve, a fast right-hand turn that requires heavy braking and a precise apex. The S du Sanglier links quick changes of direction before leading to slower turns that allow you to work on positioning and acceleration out of the corner.
Riding Tips: Exploit the long straight for acceleration, but take care with your braking before the Adrénaline curve — late braking is costly in this section. In the S du Sanglier, fluidity is key: link the turns smoothly to maintain your speed. The surface offers good grip, take advantage of it to work on your lines and apexes.
Access and Practical Information
The Anneau du Rhin is located in Biltzheim (68127), Alsace, in an ideal geographical position at the crossroads of three countries:
- From Colmar: approximately 20 minutes by road
- From Mulhouse: approximately 30 minutes
- From Germany and Switzerland: less than an hour, which attracts many cross-border riders
The circuit is a private domain: access to the paddock is reserved for registered participants. A free spectator grandstand is accessible to the left of the main gate.
The sound limit is set at 102 dB (measured 50 cm from the exhaust, at 60% of max RPM). Check with your organizer for the exact conditions, as the limit may vary depending on the day and the number of vehicles on track.
Why Ride at the Anneau du Rhin?
The Anneau du Rhin combines a fast and technical track with an exceptional natural setting in the Alsatian forest. Its 1,000-meter straight offers pure speed sensations, while the technical sections allow you to improve your riding skills. The circuit hosts many track day organizers throughout the season, with affordable prices. Its border location makes it a meeting point for motorcyclists from all over the Upper Rhine region.
