About Carole
Motorcycle Track Day at Circuit Carole
Circuit Carole, located in Tremblay-en-France in Seine-Saint-Denis (93), is the most iconic motorcycle circuit in Île-de-France. Inaugurated on December 1, 1979, and named in memory of Carole Le Fol, a young 18-year-old motorcyclist who died in 1977, this circuit is unique in France: it is open to all amateur motorcyclists, without a license, on registered production machines, 365 days a year. With its 2.06 km track and 50+ track day events organized each year, Circuit Carole is a must-visit for any Parisian motorcyclist wishing to ride at Circuit Carole.
History of Circuit Carole
The history of Circuit Carole is intimately linked to the French motorcycle movement. In September 1977, Carole Le Fol, 18, lost her life on the wild circuit of Rungis — at least 17 other people had already died there in three years. This tragedy catalyzed the creation of a safe circuit and the birth of the FFMC (Fédération Française des Motards en Colère - French Federation of Angry Motorcyclists).
Under the impetus of the government and journalist Yves Mourousi, the circuit was inaugurated on December 1, 1979, in Tremblay-lès-Gonesse (now Tremblay-en-France). It finally offered amateur motorcyclists a safe space to ride in the Paris region.
The FFM (Fédération Française de Motocyclisme - French Motorcycle Federation) took over the management of the circuit on January 1, 2012, investing 2 million euros in renovations: FIA fencing, redone gravel traps, complete video surveillance, a red light system replacing flags, and modernization of facilities (sanitary facilities, infirmary, refreshment bar). The circuit then went from a chronic deficit to a profitable balance sheet.
Great riders have ridden at Circuit Carole: Eddie Lawson, Wayne Gardner, Christian Sarron and even Valentino Rossi. Comedian Coluche, a passionate motorcyclist, set a speed record there in 1985, giving birth to the Trophée Coluche, organized every year since 1998.
Track and Characteristics of Circuit Carole
Circuit Carole extends over 2.06 km with a track width of 9 meters. The track offers 8 turns in a clockwise direction, with two straights, the main one being 500 meters where motorcycles reach 200 km/h.
The circuit is flat (no noticeable elevation changes) and the asphalt surface offers regular grip. The safety infrastructure is modern: medical PC, video PC, traffic lights throughout the track.
Riding Tips: Circuit Carole rewards fluidity more than raw speed. The 500 m straight allows you to work on your braking — brake in a straight line, then release gradually as you enter the turn. In the chicanes, the width of 9 meters requires good placement accuracy: work on your apexes and your mobility on the motorcycle. For beginners, focus on consistency before attacking the trajectories.
Schedule and Access to Circuit Carole
Circuit Carole is located in Tremblay-en-France (93), a few minutes from Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport and at the gates of Paris.
The circuit offers 26 free weekends per year, open from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. from Friday to Sunday (as well as public holidays). These sessions are accessible to all motorcyclists on registered production machines, without a license or prior registration.
In parallel, many track day and motorcycle course organizers schedule paid track days throughout the season, offering more structured supervision with level groups, briefings, and coaching. Track day booking is available online.
The sound limit at Circuit Carole is 95 dB — a strict limit. Check that your exhaust complies. Racing exhausts or full systems generally require a dB killer.
Why Ride at Circuit Carole?
Circuit Carole is a must for motorcyclists in Île-de-France. Its unique accessibility — free sessions on weekends, no license required, immediate proximity to Paris — makes it the best place to start riding on the track or progress regularly. Its compact 2 km track with 8 turns is ideal for working on pure technique: braking, trajectories, body positioning. The atmosphere is friendly and the Parisian motorcycle community meets there throughout the year.
