About Chambley

The Chambley circuit: a technical track on a former NATO base

The Chambley circuit, located in Meurthe-et-Moselle on the former NATO air base, is a technical 3.3 km track in counter-clockwise direction. Built in 2009 and FFSA approved in 2011, it offers 17 varied turns, a characteristic long parabola and a 12-meter wide track. The unique setting of a former American military airfield (1953-1967) adds to the special atmosphere of this Lorraine circuit.

History of the Chambley circuit

The history of the site dates back to 1952, when American forces established a NATO air base in Chambley-Bussières. The US Air Force was stationed there from 1953 to 1967, when the American military withdrew from France. After decades of lethargy, the Lorraine region acquired the site in 2008. The Chambley circuit was built in 2009 by transforming the former runways, then FFSA approved in 2011 and FFM. A secondary 1.5 km circuit exists inside the main track for driving courses.

Track and technical characteristics

The Chambley circuit measures 3.3 km with 17 turns, including the famous parabola (long left turn) and technical hairpins. The track, 12 meters wide, is asphalt and the direction of rotation is counter-clockwise. The track is physical and hilly, with few big braking points but demanding sequences. The sound limit is 100 dB.

Riding tips: Focus on the long parabola for progressive and steady acceleration. Approach the hairpins in 2nd or 3rd gear with wide trajectories. Be aware of bitumen joints and areas of variable grip. A steering damper is recommended given the hilly nature of the circuit. The counter-clockwise direction requires adaptation if you are not used to it.

Access and practical information

The circuit is located on the Aérodrome de Chambley Planet'Air, 54470 Saint-Julien-lès-Gorze, in Meurthe-et-Moselle. Contact: 03 82 21 98 02. The site, nestled in the heart of nature, offers a pleasant setting for motorcycle track day.

Why ride at Chambley?

The Chambley circuit is a technical and accessible choice for motorcyclists in the Grand Est region. Its 17 varied turns, its emblematic parabola and its 12 m wide track offer a complete playground. The historical setting of the former NATO base, the friendly atmosphere and the active organizers (Team Performance 55, AK Racing) make it a popular track day destination in Lorraine. Book your track day booking now and ride at Chambley!
