About Chenevières

The Chenevières Circuit: From a USAF Base to a Motorsports Hub

The Chenevières circuit, located in Meurthe-et-Moselle (54), occupies a 40-hectare site steeped in history. Used as a field hospital during the First World War, transformed into an airfield by the Germans in 1940, then taken over by the US Air Force during the Cold War until 1966, the site then served as a training ground for a regiment of tanks of the French army. In the 1970s, a rallycross circuit was built on the former concrete taxiways, hosting rounds of the French and European championships in front of up to 25,000 spectators. The current circuit, entirely asphalted, belongs to the Transalliance company and was approved by CNECV in 2009 for speed, demonstration and competition training.

Layout and characteristics of the Chenevières circuit

The circuit offers two approved configurations: a 2.5 km track suitable for driving courses and corporate events, and the full 3.5 km track for track day and club events. The track is 10 to 15 meters wide depending on the sections, with a 700 meter straight allowing speeds of over 200 km/h. The track offers a great variety: left and right hairpins, fast curves, technical sequences. The run-off areas are large and regularly maintained. The sound limit is 95 dB. A Sabre F86D, a USAF fighter plane, is still on display at the edge of the track — a unique witness to the site's history.

Driving tips at the Chenevières circuit

Exploit the long 700-meter straight for your accelerations, but anticipate braking well at the end of the straight before the hairpins. The track width (up to 15 m) offers a comfortable space for overtaking and exploring different trajectories. The fast corners require confidence — maintain your speed and let the bike turn. The asphalt surface is well maintained, but stay vigilant at the start of the session.

Access to the Chenevières circuit

The circuit is located at Pôle des Sports Mécaniques de Lorraine, Lieu-dit "Le Fays", 54122 Chenevières. Ideally located in the heart of the Grand Est region, it is easily accessible from Nancy, Metz and Strasbourg. The site has a building of more than 1,500 m² (height 6 m), an industrial hall of 400 m², reception areas and a parking lot with 400 spaces.

Why ride at the Chenevières circuit?

The Chenevières circuit offers a unique setting — a former USAF air base converted into a motorsports center. Its 700-meter straight is one of the longest in the region, and the two configurations (2.5 km and 3.5 km) are suitable for all levels. The professional infrastructure inherited from the military site, the large run-off areas and the track width make it a circuit that is both spectacular and safe. Team Trajectoire, Lux Racing Club and other organizers offer regular motorcycle track day events there. Book your motorcycle track day now!
