About Fay de Bretagne
The Fay-de-Bretagne circuit: a complete track in Loire-Atlantique
The Fay-de-Bretagne circuit, officially Circuit de Loire-Atlantique, is a 3.3 km track located near Nantes. Built in 1992 by the car manufacturer Venturi for its development tests, it offers 14 varied turns and a 900-meter straight line allowing top speeds of 230 km/h. Today oriented towards training and motorcycle track day, this accessible circuit offers an excellent balance between fast and technical sections.
History of the Fay-de-Bretagne circuit
The Fay-de-Bretagne circuit was built in 1992 by the French manufacturer Venturi for testing its sports cars, including the Venturi 600 SLM. The track is designed for high-speed tests while remaining suitable for educational uses. After Venturi's bankruptcy, the Conseil général de la Loire-Atlantique became the owner and reoriented the activity towards road safety, driver training and driving courses.
The circuit regularly hosts prototype tests. The best unofficial time is held by Léo Roussel in 1 min 13 s 9 in Tatuus PY012. Two school tracks complete the main circuit: 2.2 km (with hairpin and fast turn) and 1.5 km (for road safety).
Track and technical characteristics
The Fay-de-Bretagne circuit measures 3.3 km with 14 turns: slow, tight, fast, hairpin, banked, blind and asymmetrical. The track is 10 meters wide in asphalt, with a hilly terrain. The 900-meter straight line allows you to test your top speed before a succession of technical turns. The sound limit is 96 dB.
Riding tips: The Fay-de-Bretagne circuit alternates slow turns at the beginning of the track and fast curves at the end. Gradually work on your supports and trajectories in the tight turns. Managing braking before the technical sections is crucial. Exploit the long straight line for accelerations, but anticipate the braking that follows. Limited groups (approximately 15 riders per instructor) promote rapid progress.
Access and practical information
The circuit is located at chemin des Noxitoches, 44130 Fay-de-Bretagne, in Loire-Atlantique, near Nantes. It has 10 stands and a parking lot. Mainly dedicated to road safety and driving courses, the circuit also hosts motorcycle track day events and track days.
Why ride at Fay-de-Bretagne?
The Fay-de-Bretagne circuit is the ideal track for riders in the West. Its 14 varied turns and its 900 m straight line offer a complete and accessible track, perfect for beginners as well as experienced riders. The professional supervision and the training orientation of the circuit guarantee safe riding conditions. It's an excellent first circuit to discover track day riding.
