About Ferté Gaucher
The La Ferté-Gaucher Circuit: A High-End Track in Île-de-France
The circuit de La Ferté-Gaucher (Circuits LFG), located in Seine-et-Marne, 1 hour from Paris, is a complex of three tracks designed by the Austrian architect Frantz Schreiner, famous for his Formula 1 circuit creations. Built on a former airfield and opened in late 2008, it offers a large 3.6 km circuit with 14 turns, a fast 2 km track, and a technical 1.6 km track. Approved by FFSA and FFM for speeds exceeding 200 km/h, it is one of the most complete circuits in the Paris region.
History of the La Ferté-Gaucher Circuit
The history of Circuits LFG begins in 1945 with Roger Basuyaux, who opened a garage in Levallois-Perret. In 2006, Pierre Basuyaux, Christophe Gilbert, and Pascal Desplanques launched the project for a high-end circuit. SEMIIC Promotion found the site of the La Ferté-Gaucher airfield, and work began with the support of the municipality and the department of Seine-et-Marne. The layout was designed by Frantz Schreiner, assisted by the architect Olivia Schimek. The work was completed in November 2008, the first car track day events took place in late 2008, followed by motorcycle track day events in March 2009.
Track Layout and Technical Characteristics
Circuits LFG offers three distinct tracks:
- Grand circuit: 3.6 km, 14 turns, combining speed and technique
- Piste rapide: 2 km with several straights and flowing curves
- Piste technique: 1.6 km with turns of varying difficulty, ideal for beginners
The width varies from 10 to 20 meters depending on the sections. The main straight measures 500 m to 1 km. The sound limit is 95 dB, controlled by a fixed recorder in the middle of the straight.
Riding tips: For your first track day, start with the 1.6 km technical track to tame the turns. On the grand circuit, the 14 turns require good braking management before the technical sections. Exploit the straight for overtaking, but anticipate braking.
Access and Practical Information
The circuit is located at Route de Choisy, Aérodrome de La Ferté-Gaucher, 77320 La Ferté-Gaucher, in Seine-et-Marne. 1 hour from Paris, 40 min from Disneyland, 10 min from Coulommiers. Contact: 01 64 65 92 12.
Why Ride at La Ferté-Gaucher?
The circuit de La Ferté-Gaucher is a premium choice for motorcyclists in the Île-de-France region. The layout designed by Frantz Schreiner offers 3 tracks adapted to all levels, from the technical track for beginners to the grand circuit of 14 turns for experienced riders. The quality of the facilities, the proximity to Paris, and the FFM approval make it an ideal place for a motorcycle track day in Île-de-France.
