About Folembray

The circuit of Folembray: a historic track in the Aisne

The circuit of Folembray, located in the Aisne, 1 hour 20 minutes from Paris, is one of the oldest circuits in France still in operation. Inaugurated on July 5, 1975, it has seen legends such as Alain Prost and the Renault F1 team before becoming a mecca for motorcycle track day. With 80% of its activity dedicated to two-wheelers, a 700-meter straight line and 9 technical turns, Folembray offers excellent value for money for riders in northern France. Book your track day!

History of the circuit of Folembray

The circuit of Folembray was inaugurated on July 5, 1975 by the company Sport tourisme Coucy Folembray, on the site of the Ferme de Longueval. Success was immediate: as early as 1976, the circuit hosted Formula Renault, where Alain Prost won his 10th victory. In 1977, the final of the French Touring Car Championship was held there. The Renault F1 team carried out tests there in 1978-1979, with Jabouille, Jaussaud and Arnoux.

Closed in 1984 for work and noise pollution, the circuit was reborn in 1992 under the management of Jacques Jacquet, who developed the motorcycle activity for more than 20 years. Since 2016, Folembray Arena has managed the site with investments in security (gravel traps, sound control at 95 dB) and new activities: karting, off-road and prestige car courses.

Layout and technical characteristics

The circuit of Folembray measures 2 km with 9 varied turns: a technical hairpin, fast curves, a demanding chicane and banked sections. The track, 9.2 meters wide, is entirely asphalted with a recent quality surface. The 700-meter straight line allows for good acceleration. Two links offer shorter configurations. The sound limit is 95 dB.

Riding tips: Brake hard at the end of the straight line, using the distance panels as a guide. Straighten the motorcycle well before the hairpin for a safe entry. In the fast sequences, do not trigger the left turns too early. Watch out for bumps when accelerating: favor traction. Enter late at the apex in the hairpin to optimize the exit towards the straight line.

Access and practical information

The circuit is located at Rue des Hautes Avesnes, 02670 Folembray, in the Aisne. Access: 1h20 from Paris Est, 1h25 from Lille, 1h from Soissons or Reims. Contact: 03 23 52 01 42.

Why ride at Folembray?

The circuit of Folembray is an excellent choice for motorcycle track day thanks to its technical but easy-to-memorize layout, its prices among the most accessible in the region (from 79 €) and its relaxed atmosphere. The long straight line offers great sensations, while the 9 turns test your technique. A circuit steeped in history where you ride without pressure. Book your track day!
