About Haute Saintonge

Le circuit de Haute-Saintonge: A Fast Track Designed by Beltoise

The circuit de Haute-Saintonge, located in La Génétouze in Charente-Maritime, is a fast and technical 2.2 km track approved by FFSA and FFM. Inaugurated on June 15, 2009, it was designed by driver Jean-Pierre Beltoise to promote driving education and mechanical leisure. With its two 650-meter straights, its rolling terrain and its 7 technical turns, it offers intense speed sensations in a secure setting.

History of the circuit de Haute-Saintonge

The project of the circuit de Haute-Saintonge was born from the will of Jean-Pierre Beltoise, a legendary driver, and Claude Belot, president of the Communauté de communes de la Haute-Saintonge, with the support of Dominique Bussereau, Secretary of State for Transport. The circuit was inaugurated on June 15, 2009 with a philosophy of sustainable development and education for good citizen driving. The site also includes a 1,055 m karting track.

Track and Technical Characteristics

The circuit de Haute-Saintonge measures 2.2 km with 7 fast and technical turns: banked turns, hairpins, double lefts and blind curves. The track, 11 to 15 meters wide, follows the natural rolling terrain of the south of Haute-Saintonge. Two 650-meter straights allow you to reach 250 km/h. The abrasive surface offers high grip. The sound limit is 95 dB.

Driving tips: Be vigilant for handlebar wobble after the break to the left when exiting the first straight. Take the apex late in the fast turns to maximize acceleration. Spot the bump on the outside of a turn and the negative camber at the exit of the last hilly turn. The track is quick to memorize but requires precision.

Access and Practical Information

The circuit is located at Pôle Mécanique de Haute-Saintonge, Le Petit Châtaignier, 17360 La Génétouze, in Charente-Maritime. Access via D157. The 5,000 m² paddock has 6 boxes and 14 surveillance cameras. The circuit is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Why ride at Haute-Saintonge?

The circuit de Haute-Saintonge is popular for its fast and rolling track, accessible to riders of all levels. The two 650 m straights offer sensations of speed, while the 7 technical turns allow you to work on your riding. The generous width of the track (up to 15 m) promotes safe overtaking. An ideal circuit for motorcycle track day in the South-West.
