Motorcycle Track Day at Hungaroring Circuit
The Hungaroring, located in Hungary, is a legendary circuit known for hosting the first Hungarian F1 Grand Prix in 1986. Built in 1985, it has been modified over the years, from 4.014 km to 4.381 km. Apart from major events, the Hungaroring is open for motorcycle track days, attracting amateur riders since the 2000s thanks to its modern infrastructure and proximity to Budapest. The atmosphere is friendly and family-oriented, enhanced by the wooded valley and full visibility from the paddock. The audience is a mix of F1 fans and track day enthusiasts, creating an electrifying atmosphere, especially in summer.
Hungaroring Track Characteristics
The Hungaroring is a 4.38 km circuit with clockwise rotation and an asphalt surface. The track width is 12 meters, allowing for overtaking and providing good safety. Although the exact number of turns is not specified, the circuit is renowned for its winding and technical layout. The theoretical maximum speed is approximately 310 km/h.
Pilots often nickname it 'Monaco without barriers' or 'giant karting' due to its rapid sequences and tight corners. The surface can be bumpy and dusty at the start of a session. Pay particular attention to the braking zones before turn 1 and the 8-9 chicane. Turns 10 and 11, which are fast, require great precision. Don't forget the climb to turn 6 and the descent to 14, with varying cambers. Approach turn 1 with caution, brake late, but avoid cutting the curbs. In the 10-13 sequences, maintain a smooth trajectory with a late apex to maximize exit and traction. A soft suspension setting can help absorb bumps.
