The circuit du Luc, officially Circuit du Var, is a technical track nestled in the heart of a Provençal pine forest, just 20 km from Saint-Tropez. Located au Luc en Provence in the Var, this 2.5 km circuit has become a must-see for motorcycle track day enthusiasts in the south of France. Founded in 1968 and completely redesigned in 2018, it combines an exceptional natural setting with a demanding track of 9 turns that challenges both beginner and experienced riders.

History of the circuit du Luc

The history of the circuit du Luc begins in 1965, when two enthusiasts, Eugène Rebollo and Marc Fabetto, founded SARL Circuit du Var. Work began on land leased by the municipality of Luc, with a dirt track in 1967, then asphalted and inaugurated in 1968, 2.2 km long and 9 m wide. In 1978, the municipality of Luc created a joint association with the Department of Var, joined by Les Mayons in 1984.

In 1989, a 200 m "bean" was added for the motorcycle configuration, bringing the track to 2.4 km. In the 1980s, the circuit served as a training track for the Formula 1 team AGS (Automobile Gonfaronnaise Sportive), which competed in 47 Grand Prix between 1986 and 1991. In 2010, the circuit obtained CNECV approval. A complete redesign in 2018 marked the 50th anniversary, celebrated with more than 10,000 visitors, vehicle exhibitions and stunt and drift demonstrations.

Track and technical characteristics

The circuit du Luc offers a 2.5 km asphalt track with 9 turns of varying radii: fast turns, hairpins and long curves. The track, 9 meters wide, is complemented by a 530 meter straight line which allows for good acceleration. The direction of rotation is clockwise and the noise limit is set at 102 dB.

Riding tips: The track width of 9 meters requires precision in the trajectories. Progress gradually as the circuit can be tricky for beginners. The track favors the use of the right side of the tires. Focus on mastering trajectories rather than raw speed, especially in the sequences after the main straight.

The circuit is located at Route des Mayons, Quartier Bel Amant, 83340 Le Luc en Provence. It is part of a leisure center which also includes a 1 km off-road track, a karting track, and relaxation activities (tennis, mini-golf, swimming pool).
