About Monza
Motorcycle Track Day at Monza
The Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, inaugurated in 1922, is the temple of speed and one of the oldest circuits in the world still in operation. Located in the royal park of Monza, it has hosted the Italian F1 Grand Prix without interruption since 1950. Track Characteristics
The circuit is 5.79 km long with 11 turns (7 right, 4 left) in a clockwise direction. The asphalt track is 11 m wide with a modest elevation change of 13 m. The circuit is dominated by long accelerations — speeds exceed 370 km/h in F1 on the straight before the Variante del Rettifilo. The sound limit is 102-103 dB depending on the organizer. - Variante del Rettifilo (T1-T2): tight right-left chicane at the end of the straight, braking from 370+ km/h to 70 km/h
- Curva Biassono: long, fast right-hand curve, 300 m radius
- Curva di Lesmo 1 & 2: two successive fast rights, the technical heart of Monza
- Variante Ascari: fast left-right-left sequence, taken at ~200 km/h
- Curva Parabolica (Alboreto): long curve with increasing radius, acceleration begins there for the start/finish straight
Riding Tips
Monza is the circuit of top speed and braking. The chicanes require violent braking from very high speeds — trail braking and braking stability are essential. The Lesmo curves reward courage and confidence in aerodynamic support. The Parabolica requires progressive acceleration from the apex to optimize exit onto the long straight.
