About Portimao
Motorcycle track day at the Portimao circuit
The Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, better known as the Portimao circuit, is a mecca for motorcycle track days in Europe. Inaugurated in 2008, it quickly won over riders thanks to its technical layout and welcoming atmosphere. Originally designed for Formula 1, it has hosted MotoGP and Superbike competitions since 2020. Its reputation is well established, and organizations such as PPO Track Days and SAS 4G organize track days there that are accessible all year round.
Characteristics of the Portimao track
The Portimao circuit is nicknamed the 'roller coaster' due to its elevation change of 108 meters. The track, 18 meters wide, offers an asphalt surface and presents a technical challenge with its 15 turns (9 left, 6 right). The direction of rotation is clockwise.

Riding tips: Approach the blind climb to turn 1 with caution, braking early. Be careful in downhill turns, such as turn 5. Turn 8 is an ideal place to test your late braking. Don't forget to adapt your suspension to the circuit's undulations.
