Motorcycle Track Day at Sepang International Circuit
The Sepang International Circuit, located in Malaysia, is a legendary circuit known for hosting MotoGP and Formula 1 Grand Prix. Built in 1998 and inaugurated in 1999, this circuit designed by Hermann Tilke attracts speed enthusiasts from around the world. Beyond top-level competitions, Sepang is also a privileged place for motorcycle track days, offering an immersive experience in a modern tropical setting. Its fluid and fast layout, combined with a spacious paddock and covered grandstands, makes it a very popular circuit for riders.
Track Layout Characteristics of Sepang International Circuit
The Sepang circuit extends over 5.54 km and offers a technical challenge with its 15 turns (10 right and 5 left). The track, entirely asphalted, offers a width of 25 meters, ideal for overtaking. A long straight of 920 meters allows reaching high speeds.
Riding Tips:
- Attack the long straight before the hairpin (turn 1) at full throttle, braking late but cautiously.
- In the fast corners (2-4), favor a smooth outside-inside trajectory to maintain the pace.
- Be vigilant in the many right turns and braking zones after the long straights.
- Don't be too greedy at the exit of the hairpin to avoid running off the track.
